Listening environments vary greatly from room to room. Room size, furniture placement, and audio equipment layout all influence the acoustic characteristics of a space. While some furniture can unintentionally improve acoustics, achieving an ideal listening environment through room layout alone is extremely difficult.

Escart has developed a wide range of acoustic products designed to control sound reflections from walls, ceilings, and floors in order to create a more accurate listening environment.

Sound emitted from speakers or instruments radiates in all directions. Ideally, listeners should hear primarily the direct sound from the speakers. In reality, however, sound reflects from walls, ceilings, and floors before reaching the listener, causing time delays and phase interference that create a blurred and congested sound.
This phenomenon is one reason why high-quality headphones often sound exceptionally clear. With headphones, listeners hear mainly the direct signal without the interference of room reflections.

To address these issues in real listening spaces, arte introduces the COLUMN FLOOR CONTROLLER, a cylindrical acoustic tube designed specifically to control reflections and sound accumulation occurring on the floor surface.

Hybrid Diffusion Structure

COLUMN FLOOR CONTROLLER features a hybrid acoustic structure that integrates two acoustic functions within a single cylindrical body.

Diffusion Surface < Front Side >

The front side diffuses reflected sound without reducing acoustic energy, maintaining natural liveliness while improving spatial dispersion. front surface diffuses reflected sound without significantly reducing acoustic energy, helping maintain natural liveliness while improving spatial dispersion.

Absorption Surface < Rear Side >

The rear surface absorbs excessive reflections, particularly those generated in corners or between desk and wall surfaces, reducing sonic congestion and unwanted resonance.

By adjusting the angle of the column, users can fine-tune the balance between diffusion and absorption to match their listening environment and personal sound preference.

Recommended Placement

COLUMN FLOOR CONTROLLER is most effective when placed at acoustically critical reflection points.

Primary Floor Reflection Point
Place between the speaker and the listening position where the first reflection from the floor occurs.

Floor–Wall Corners
Corners where the floor meets the wall often accumulate sound energy and cause acoustic congestion. Placing the controller at these points helps control excessive reflections.

Typical locations include:

Side wall corners
Behind the listening position

These areas commonly generate sound build-up and phase interference that degrade sound clarity.
